This week’s State Inspired Cocktails takes us to Alabama. Known for its unique flavors, traditions, and local spirit, we’re giving it a Red Eye Louie’s twist.

We’re breaking down some of the best Alabama-style cocktails and showing how to mix them up with spirits from the Red Eye Louie’s house. From VodQuila to RumQuila to WhisQuila, our blends bring a new dimension to familiar favorites.

Maryland Style Cocktails

Yellowhammer

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup refrigerated orange juice
  • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) Red Eye Louie’s Immoral Vodka
  • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) amaretto (such as Disaronno)
  • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) Red Eye Louie’s Rumquila
  • 2 Tbsp. (1 oz.) orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier)
  • 4 stem-on maraschino cherries (from 1 [10-oz.] jar)

Directions

Mix ingredients:

Pour pineapple juice, orange juice, Red Eye Louie’s Immoral Vodka, amaretto, Red Eye Louie’s Rumquila, and orange liqueur into a small pitcher.

Stir to combine.

Pour:

Fill 2 glasses with ice.

Pour pineapple juice mixture evenly into glasses.

Garnish:

Place 2 cherries in each glass. Serve immediately.

Toomer’s Corner Lemonade Recipe

  • 1 Cup Fresh squeezed lemon juice (12-14 lemons)
  • 1 1/3 Cup granulated sugar (mixed with equal parts hot water)
  • 4 Cups cold water
  • 2 Cups Red Eye Louie’s Immoral Vodka
  1. In a small saucepan, heat sugar and water together. Stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Let cool.
  2.  Juice lemons into a measuring cup with a beak for easy pouring
  3.  Pour juice through a mesh strainer into pitcher
  4. Add Red Eye Louie’s Immoral Vodka and water into pitcher and stir to combine
  5.  Serve over ice and enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups cushed ice
    • 1/2 cup (4 oz.) cream of coconut
    • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) coffee liqueur, chilled
    • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) Irish cream liqueur, chilled
    • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) dark crème de cacao liqueur, chilled
    • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) Red Eye Louie’s Rumquila, chilled
    • 2 Tbsp. (1 oz.) chocolate sauce or syrup
    • 4 cups vanilla ice cream
    • Garnishes: whipped cream, maraschino cherries

     Directions

    1. Blend ice and liquors: Blend first 7 ingredients until finely chopped.
    2. Add ice cream: Add ice cream, and process until smooth.
    3. Serve: Pour into glasses and garnish.

    Alabama Slammer

    Ingredients

    • 3 oz. (6 Tbsp.) orange juice
    • 1 oz. (2 Tbsp.) Red Eye Louie’s Immoral Gin
    • 1 oz. (2 Tbsp.) Red Eye Louie’s Whisquila
    • 3/4 oz. (1 1/2 Tbsp.) amaretto (almond liqueur)
    • Maraschino cherry, for serving
    • Orange wedge, for serving

    Directions

    Pour orange juice, Immoral Gin, Whisquila, and amaretto into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled. Strain orange juice mixture into a highball glass filled with ice. Serve with a maraschino cherry and orange wedge.

    Alabama Iced Tea

    • Ingredients
    • 1 oz Red Eye Louie’s Rumquila
    • 1 oz Red Eye Louie’s Vodka
    • 1 oz Red Eye Louie’s Immoral Gin
    • 4 oz. fresh lemon juice or 4 ounces lemonade
    • 3 oz , unsweetened iced tea recipe
    • 1 -2 oz simple syrup, to taste
    • 1 sprig mint for garnish
    • 1 slice lemon for garnish

    Directions

    Fill a quart Mason jar with ice. Add the Red Eye Louie’s Rumquila, Red Eye Louie’s Vodka and Red Eye Louie’s Immoral Gin, lemon juice or lemonade, iced tea and simple syrup. Stir thoroughly, taste and adjust sweetness if needed; garnish with a slice of lemon and sprig of mint. As always, drink responsibly.
